the weekend...

...proved to be very successful for us! we accomplished lots, whether that be yardwork, visiting with family or pool time. the last post was about what we planned on doing, and this post is dedicated to what we actually did.

friday
i took off from work at noon and went on a semi-successful shopping trip with Krista. Sometimes you just strike out and this was definitely one of those shopping trips. But I did end up with a few things. if nothing else, Krista and i had a good time.

saturday
Matt had to work, poor guy. for those who don't know, he was recently assigned to work on the new KC Wizards soccer stadium out at the Legends. his first project was renovating Allen Fieldhouse at KU and now he gets to work on a new MLS stadium, pretty cool if you ask me!

while he was working, the dogs and I joined my parents and headed to Atchison to visit with Grandma Kautz and Grandma Pusch. we had KFC for lunch, sat around chatting, visited both my grandfathers' graves, and helped with some "to-dos" at their houses. was a nice, short little trip.

sunday
pool day! Matt, Krista, Megan, Ted, Mom and I took in some pool time at my parent's neighborhood pool and managed to get a little color. i should also mention that matt rode his bike ALL the way out to my parent's house. I guess it was only about a 20-mile ride, but still!

that night we went over to Matt's mom's house for a BBQ. Food was great, but the storm rolled in and cut the party short.

monday
yardwork day! all day! i'll post pictures later, but i'm not sure they'll do our work any justice. our landscaping was in pretty bad shape, no, that's an understatement. it was in very bad shape. for example, i'm thinking the previous owners never sprayed for weeds or mulched the entire 8 years they were in our house. so needless to say, the weed mat was covered with weeds and blowing in the wind since mulch was basically non-existent.

we got all the weed mat pulled up, planted a few bushes, sprayed for weeds and generally cleaned up the area. next up - mulching everything and adding a few more plants/bushes.

so that basically sums up our long weekend. at least this is only a 4-day week - i live for the weekends!
