bark, bark, no more

as with all happy dog owners, we love ours more than anything, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they can annoy the living crap out of us. neeko feels it is his personal duty in life to stand by our front living room windows and bark at every single thing that moves by. part of me thinks it's cute sometimes because he barks and then runs and looks at you like he's trying to say, "come quick, come see what i found!" but mostly, it's just really, really annoying. plus, he gets sophie all excited, and her bark is just too much to take sometimes. i really am going to be completely deaf by the age of 30.

so not too long ago i came to my wits end and ordered a bark collar. now don't freak out, it's not a shock collar, it's a spray collar. our friends megan and ted told us about this and i was instantly intrigued. the collar has a device attached that you fill up with this spray and when the dog barks, it releases a little squirt of the spary into the dog's face. we are firm believers of the bitter apple spray, so this is right up our alley. you'll hear the phrase "do you wanna get sprayed??!" quite often at our house.

we were given the advice to put the collar on our "prime" offender first, which would be neeko. so a couple nights ago was the first test and let me tell you, this collar works like a charm! Plus, it's great entertainment! how awful is that?!

the only problem is, now neeko is completely freaked out and is acting like the biggest baby. for those of you who don't know, both our dogs are great actors and really know how to play the pathetic card. it's really quite funny.

he can't figure out where the spray is coming from because usually it comes from us running and yelling at him like crazies with the spray bottle. so he gets a warning. but the collar is sneaky, sneaky, which makes me happy, happy :)

all in all, the collar was the best idea ever. thanks megan and ted!
