diy artwork

In an attempt to save us some money, I've been trying to be creative and make a couple pieces of my own artwork for our house since I'm just not sure why it's necessary for art to be so dang expensive. And ever since we bought our house, HGTV has become one of our favorite channels and I have learned many tricks and ideas. Plus, I have some pretty creative friends.

For our bedroom I took 4 canvases and covered them with fabric. I've seen this done on HGTV and on one of my favorite web sites, thenest.com.

For our family room, I also took canvases and painted them for a piece to add above our fireplace. I found a design online that I liked and changed it up a bit. I had originally covered these canvases in fabric as well and had painted a design on the fabric, but decided I wanted to do something different. Which is the beauty of using fabric - it's very easy and inexpensive to change up.

I still have some more ideas and future projects in mind. I'm beginning to think I have a problem with constantly needing a project or "To-Do" list to complete. I really should make a whole post dedicated to my love of To-Do lists. Matt thinks I'm just crazy!
