Jam-Packed Weekend

We had a very jam-packed weekend, but got lots done and had some fun too.

We kicked off the weekend by going to the Royals game on Friday night.  Matt got tickets through his work, and my were they great seats!  They were right behind home plate and were all-you-can-eat and drink.  Plus, before the game started, we got to eat dinner from a buffet full of gourmet food. Matt enjoyed the never-ending dessert table.  Let's put it this way, it wasn't your typical baseball game fare, but you definitely had the option of getting yourself a hot dog and nachos if you really wanted.

Check out the view!
Matt got up bright and early Saturday morning to run in the Corporate Challenge 5k.  He did great and ran it in 20 minutes.  After he got home we decided to check out the Overland Park Farmer's Market.  Neither of us had ever been and thought it would be fun to try out.  Krista had the same idea and decided to meet us there.  We also ran into Callie and her friend.  Apparently everyone thought it was a nice morning for the farmer's market, plus the weather was beautiful.  We checked out lots of stuff, but only ended up leaving with some seasoned pasta (Krista tells me it is delicious), 4 ears of corn, some asaragus and a package of strawberries.  There wasn't much fruit yet, so we'll definitely be dropping by again.

After leaving the farmer's market, we headed out to Hermes Nursery.  We were looking for a white pine and were told this was a good place to check out.  I'm assuming I may be the only one unaware that Hermes is actually a commerical nursery and only open to the public once a year.  I was also unaware that they really only offer large trees and shrubs.  However, none of this mattered because number 1 - we actually ended up at Hermes on the one weekend they're open to the public, and number 2 - we ended up leaving with a beautiful 5 to 6 foot white pine for a great price. Man, we got lucky.

This is basically what our white pine will look like, but our new guy doesn't show up for a couple weeks so I don't have a picture yet.  It has long, soft needles and will look great in our backyard corner soon!

Saturday night we headed out to Independence, MO, for a wedding.  My long-time good friend, Jill, was tying the knot.  She was absolutely stunning and the most beautiful bride.  The wedding was at The Rhapsody - they had the ceremony outside and then we walked into the building for the reception.  The decorations were awesome and the facility was perfect. You'll have to take my word for it because of course I didn't take any pictures.  Dang.  Great night catching up with good friends I haven't seen in awhile and saw a friend deservingly marry the man of her dreams.

As everyone knows, Mother's Day was Sunday, so we had lunch with Matt's mom and dinner with my parents.  It was a lovely day and wonderful to celebrate the 2 amazing moms in our lives.

And we're celebrating again tonight - it's our 2-year wedding anniversary!  Going to be a lot different than last year since we don't have a nice weekend trip booked to Chicago or anywhere fun.  In fact, we're just staying home and ordering some carry-out.  How romantic, eh?!  We might turn on some music and light a few candles just to set the mood.  Can't believe 2 years has already passed.  But it's been a great 2 years with an absolutey amazing man.

Hope you all had a great weekend too!
