Hodge Podge

Hello Everyone!

Long time no blog.  Oh well, what can you do. Anyone else beginning to think that the only time I blog is to say I'm sorry for not blogging? Yea, me too. Regardless, I'll explain - between a much-needed vacation, lots of evening activities and beyond-busy work days (I'm not complaining, really, busy is good), the ol' blogging has been pushed to the backburner.  And let's be honest, much of my blogging takes place during work hours.  Shhhh, don't tell my boss.

So, I'm in the process of developing a new evening routine that will include time for blogging. Basically, the change only involves bringing up one of our lap tops to the bedroom and hooking it up on my night stand.  This is much needed in my eyes because not only have I not had time to write posts, I've also had very little time to keep up with any of the blogs I follow.  And let me tell you, this really upsets me.  I love reading all the blogs and I feel so disconnected.  Seriously, I had a few minutes yesterday to pop open a couple blogs and was so overwhelmed with how much I've missed that I had to immediately close the windows. I mean, it's going on a month now, pretty ridiculous.

Anywho, as the title suggests, this post is a hodge podge of what's been going on.  Nothing too exciting, just some updates.

NEW PINE
As I promised waaay back here, this is our new white pine.  Still alive and kicking, even in this horrible heat.  Isn't it cute?  Oh, and did I mention I basically planted this baby by myself since Matt's arm was broken at the time? Ugh.  It may be little, but it sure was heavy.
COOL GADGET
My BF Krista told me about this nifty kitchen tool.  And it's like the best thing since sliced bread.  It's a pineapple cutter/corer and it's soooooo cool!  I was always afraid to buy a whole pineapple because I had not a single clue as to how to get the thing open.  Come on, you have to agree that they're a little intimidating looking?  But with this amazing tool, you just slice off the top and twist away.  You all should really go out and get one because fresh pineapple is way better than packaged pineapple. Plus, it's just $10, and only $8 if you have a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon :)
VACAY
We took a family vacation the last week in June to Hancock, Massachusetts.  My wonderful mother-in-law flew us, Tara and Scott up to the northeast for a week of relaxation.  More to come in another post soon...
JULY 4th
Happy belated birthday America!  No, I didn't actually miss the 4th, but I did in the blogisphere.
This also happens to be my mother-in-law's birthday - she's a firecracker baby!

PINK OR BLUE?
We had a "revealing" party last week for our friends, Brian and Krista, to announce whether they are having a girl or a boy.  The verdict - it's a BOY!  We are so happy for them and can't wait to meet baby boy Kutter!
You can read about it here on Krista's blog, but the idea was - wear the color representing what you think the baby is - blue for a boy and pink for a girl.  It was such a cute idea borrowed from our friend Callie and a wonderful way to celebrate an exciting time in our friend's lives.  Everyone had a great time and we all can't wait for more revealing parties!

WWF
Has anyone else been sucked into the world of Words with Friends? Not that I don't already have enough time-wasting apps on my phone, but now I have the very addicting WWF.  Not kidding, I have 10 games going right now. For those unaware of what this is, it's a game available on iPhones (might be available for other phones too) and is basically Scrabble.  The only problem for me is that I never played Scrabble as a kid and suck terribly.  I have 2 majors from the Journalism School for goodness sake and still can't manage to create a word worth more than 20 points. I have people like my brother who are dominating me because they keep throwing words at me worth 65 points. Geesh.

Well, that does it for my catch-up post.  I have so many other things I want to post about, but until then...cheers!
