Shiny New Toys

Ok, so this doesn't really pertain to anything shiny, or even toys for that matter.  But our brand new bedroom furniture and kitchen table and chairs feel like shiny new toys for us!

We have been very patient, and if you know Matt and I, this is a very difficult task. We felt like we waited long enough to get new bedroom furniture. Plus, we had just recently been passed down a mattress from my sister and brother-in-law, so we felt the time was right.

However, the biggest push was the amazing deal Nebraska Furniture Mart was advertising - 33 months of financing with no interest.  Um, YES please!  We take little to be convinced.

After looking around and finding several sets we really liked, we came upon a little problem.  That wonderful mattress we got...well, it's a California King.  Which means, extremely hard if not impossible to find bedding, sheets, bed skirts, and beds.  Sigh. Don't get me wrong, you can find beds in that size, but you're going to pay extra, and gosh, beds are already pretty darn expensive.  But not to worry. With a little quick thinking, we decided - What the heck!  Who needs a bed anyways?!

So we ended up purchasing a long and tall dresser with two matching side tables, and had them throw in a nice shiny new metal bed frame :)
Here is a view of our old side tables
And that my friends, is how we also ended up taking home a lovely kitchen table and chairs.  I like to see it as a bonus.  For the price of 1 bed, we were able to purchase a table and six chairs.
The best part of this story, well, at least what Matt would say, is that I don't want to re-paint our bedroom!  I had every intention of re-painting for like the 4th time, but after we got the new furniture all moved in, I finally saw what I had originally visioned.  But knowing me, the room could eventually get painted because I get bored and like to change things up frequently.

Oh, but I still got out my trusty paint brushes and rollers this weekend for a different painting project :)  Details to come later!  Happy *snowy* Monday!
