When I say I'm behind on blogging, that's an understatement for, I'm extremely behind on blogging. This time of the year is just so crazy to begin with, and then I go and try to throw blogging in the mix. And I have so many things I would love to write and share about. I'm tyring! I promise!
So, the weekend before Thanksgiving (see, really behind like I told ya), my family road-tripped it down to southwest Missouri - Branson baby - for a little holiday vacation. A couple years ago we started this tradition of visiting Silver Dollar City around Christmas. Well, I should back-up and say...my aunt's family has been doing this for many many years, and we used to accompany them every once in awhile. We always had such a good time that we decided it would be fun to do each year as well. If you have never been to Silver Dollar City during the Christmas season, then it is a definite must-see.
The theme this year is "An Old Time Christmas". The park is beautifully decorated and strung with colorful lights from head to toe. It just really puts you in a festive mood. Plus, the food is to-die-for-delicious. Matt and I stopped at the smore stand, where you actually roast your own marshmallows and they use chocolate chip cookies. Yummy.
There are a bunch of cute little shops, funny shows, and the rides are even still open if the weather is nice. We really lucked out this year because the weather was beautiful. Didn't even have to wear our coats until the sun went down. This is a big deal because there have been a few years where we wondered if we were crazy.
Last year we also caught a show in Branson, but this year we just shopped-till-we-dropped. Not kidding. We literally walked around the entire shopping center and hit up just about every store. Thank goodness I wore my flat boots.
It was a wonderful weekend with wonderful family in a wonderful place. Can't wait till next year! Here are some photos of the trip...
