While I was competing in my first triathlon, Matt was finishing up his first experience at RAGBRAI (a post will soon follow about this). Wow, what a weekend.
As evident from my previous post, I was semi apprehensive about the triathlon, swimming in the lake especially. But I can now honestly say that I am so glad I decided to participate and am very proud of myself. I think everyone deserves an experience of this sort, regardless of what it may be, simply so that you can feel the way I do. As Krista had told me, the minute you pass the finish line, you have this amazing sense of accomplishment overwhelm you. It also puts a permanent smile on your face for days and makes you realize you are capable of anything. Truly, I haven't felt this good about myself in a long time. And, the swim wasn't bad at all!
Although I wasn't able to keep up with the incredi-women who finished in about 58 minutes, with a swim time of 5 minutes (not kidding), I still feel that my overall time is worth mentioning. I finished all 3 events in 1 hour, 26 minutes and 04 seconds. Here is the breakdown of each stage.
Swim: 15:33
Transition 1: 2:04
Bike: 34:23
Transition 2: 1:58
Run: 32:06
Overall, a great experience, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm already excited to try and beat my time! Here are a few pictures from the day.
Lots of women with pink swim caps!

I'm so proud of you and Krista. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You guys are awesome! I actaully thought about you guys on Saturday (you were probably already way done) but was hoping the swim went okay. That would have been my worst fear!
