Life is a Roller Coaster

I feel like I have been on some sort of a roller coaster ride lately - but to my surprise it's just my life.  As much as I love roller coasters, I am so glad the ride is over, and now I can just enjoy my funnel cake.

I keep telling myself that even just one post a week would be sufficient!  Ha! But when you're traveling for work and the hotel doesn't offer free Internet, then you're basically screwed in the blogging department.

This seems to be a phrase I use in many of my posts, but, "a lot has happened recently."  One business trip to Los Angeles, one trip to Manhattan (KS) to visit the bro, some major yard work, walking/jogging in the Trolley Run, a new baby born in the family and much more.  See, I told you!  I WILL fill you in with details on some of this soon, but first I feel like I should share some other information.

Some of you already know, and some of you may have heard, but about a month ago we found out that my dad has prostate cancer.  He had gone in for a routine checkup and they decided they needed to run some tests.  The tests came back showing he had cancer.  Thankfully, they were able to catch it in the early stages and were pretty sure it was contained to just the prostate.  After meeting with the doctor and going over the various treatments, they decided the best option was surgery to remove his prostate.

He went in for surgery on Thursday the 7th.  He made it through great with no complications.  They sent him home to rest and heal, and he will be out of work for 3 weeks.  They sent in his prostate and lymph nodes for testing.  We got the results back last Thursday, and my dad is now cancer free!! This is obviously the best news we could have asked for.

So back to the roller coaster analogies - This has been quite an emotional roller coaster for our family. But we made it to the top and finished the ride. Through it all my dad has been very strong. I can't even imagine what he was thinking. I am so proud of him and feel so blessed that he is healthy and is now a cancer survivor!

In other good news, my cousin Amber and her husband Matt just welcomed their 3rd son into their family - Weston Matthew!  He was born April 11th and weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz.  Congrats to them all!
